Life and Health Insurance Industry commends Senate Social Affairs Committee Report on Canadian Health

(TORONTO, Oct. 25, 2002 – The Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association commends the Senate Social Affairs Committee on their sixth report on Canada’s health system. “The Social Affairs Committee has worked very hard for several years on the major study which has culminated in this final report. The industry looks forward to carefully assessing its numerous recommendations,” said Mark Daniels, President of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association.

Mr. Daniels continued, “The Committee has been tireless in its efforts to seek the views of stakeholders across the country and has clearly produced an important document that will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the debate on the future of health care in Canada in the period immediately ahead.”

The CLHIA represents some 75 life and health insurance companies which account for 97 percent of Canada’s life and health insurance business.
