Gmez Again Raises Bar On Web site Monitoring

GPN Version 3.5 extends alerting into the enterprise and introduces connectivity profiling services

Waltham, MA, September 5, 2002 — Gmez,
Inc., the Internet Quality Measurement firm, has released the latest version of its Gmez Performance Network (GPN) Web performance monitoring service that serves the complex data analysis needs of technical and business organizations.

In its second major release of the year, Gmez continues to develop functionality based on open standards while making reporting easier and more flexible for enterprises. (Version 3.0, launched in April, introduced features to support benchmarking and alerting, as well as JavaScript and HTTP 1.1 support.) Version 3.5 offers an array of new features to make end-user alerting and reporting more adaptable to enterprises evolving Web site performance monitoring requirements. It also adds a new reporting feature that enables subscribers to build connectivity profiles of site visitors.

Major features of the new release include:

Enterprise Alerts – GPN Alerts can now be integrated directly into existing enterprise systems. XML-based alert messages are sent through the Internet and are translated and forwarded to network management systems such as HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, CA Unicenter or any SNMP compliant system.

Customized Alerts Alert format and content can be customized for the enterprise using pre-defined
templates. GPN Alerts can be used to automatically open tickets in
ticketing systems such as Remedy.

Visitor Connectivity Report – Subscribers can now create Internet network performance profiles that affect customer experience. For example, IT managers can identify demand locations to optimize end-to-end infrastructure.

“As the market seeks additional value from service providers, Gmez is adding performance monitoring capabilities that enable companies to cost effectively focus on the real problems affecting the quality of online customer experience, stated Gmez Vice President Jeff Banker, who oversees the GPN service. These features enable enterprises to more easily integrate GPN alerting and reporting services into their existing operational processes, rather than forcing IT organizations to change their practices and procedures.

Pricing & Availability

Unlike other leading performance monitoring companies, Gmez is the only company that provides its entire global network of 50-plus measurement nodes at a fixed price per URL. Version 3.5 will be available September 12.
