Cooperators Insurance Company as a new member company in the Toronto
Collision Reporting Centres;
Toronto. July 1, 2002. — Member companies realize immediate
financial and customer service benefits because they have the one
stop opportunity to deal with their customer directly in the
Collision Reporting Centre immediately after their customer has
reported to the police. This is generally within hours of the
accident occurring thereby allowing member insurers to manage the
claim from its earliest stage increasing service and retention while
reducing or controlling claims costs.
Cooperators did an intense three month evaluation of the CRC
services and they concluded that in cases where injuries are
reported, this immediate intervention opportunity allowed
Cooperators to act on suspicious Accident Benefit claims with
favorable results. Cases of “creative damage” were also identified.
Cooperators also saw that they benefited by acting quickly when
injuries were identified in Third Party vehicles. Member Insurers
have a complete paper trail available, including first and third
party police reports, detailed passenger lists, along with
ownerships, vehicle liability cards, and photo images of the
vehicle damage taken by our staff at the time of the police report.
CRC photos have been used successfully in FSCO arbitration cases to
prove that the accident was staged. The photo images of damage along
with our “Damage Reported to Police” sticker program also prevents
“creative damage” insurance fraud.
