Manulife USA and CSC Debut New E-Commerce Capabilities

Enhanced Architecture Facilitates Online Insurance Transactions and Improved
Back-Office Functionality

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., March 14 /PRNewswire/ — Computer
Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) today announced that it has implemented major information
systems enhancements for the U.S. Annuities Division of The Manufacturers Life Insurance
Company (USA), a subsidiary of Manulife Financial Corporation (NYSE: MFC) of Toronto, Ontario.

The enhancements include new e-commerce capability and
improved workflow management. With the new e-commerce framework, Manulife USA’s clients
and brokers can now process key online transactions over the Internet, including fund
transfers, rebalances and fund allocation changes.

CSC designed and implemented the framework and integrated
it with CSC’s image-enabled workflow management system, Automated Work Distributor
(AWD(R)), and VANTAGE-ONE(R) annuity administration system. AWD streamlines Manulife’s
processing, and VANTAGE-ONE provides industrial-strength transaction support.

To implement AWD, a CSC/Manulife team converted 6.4 million
transactions, 3.5 million images and 5.2 million text and data elements from a legacy
imaging system. Connectivity to VANTAGE-ONE is accomplished through CSC’s open transaction
architecture component.

“We needed to improve the stability of our
infrastructure, create a sound platform to improve our administrative operations and find
a long-term architecture to underpin our strategic platforms,” said Mark Rizza, vice
president, Information Systems, Manulife USA. “CSC has been with us every step of the
way, delivering an integrated suite of products customized for our unique requirements.”

“Manulife USA is driven by the desire to provide
quality service to our clients,” said Jim Boyle, president, U.S. Annuities for
Manulife USA. “Pushing real-time financial transaction processing out to the
Internet, and integrating that capability with our workflow and core processing systems,
enables us to enhance customer service and responsiveness while improving productivity.”

“CSC was able to help Manulife USA meet this milestone
through our ability to plan, build and operate total business and IT solutions,” said
Jim Cook, president of CSC’s Financial Services Group. “Through CSC’s relationship
with Manulife USA and other leading financial services firms, we continue to expand our
capabilities, industry experience, application software portfolio and collaborative
approach to delivering the best total solution.”
