The Insurance Institute of Ontario
The Insurance Institute of Ontario is pleased to announce the launch of its new Accident
Benefits Claims Training Program for January 2002. This eight-day program is the first in a series of Skills
Shop Training® courses offered by The Insurance Institute of Canada. Historically, the Institute has been
the industry leader in academic property and casualty insurance education programs. More recently, the Institute
has been responding to the industry’s need for more training-oriented courses, to meet the job requirements of
today’s insurance professionals. The Accident Benefits Claims Training Program was created to meet the immediate
and long-term needs of the industry and draws on direct input from industry leaders, claims operations managers,
and claims consultants.
The hands-on course is designed to equip the student with a working knowledge of Ontario’s
Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule and will provide the basic skills necessary to process SABS medical claims.
The course has been created for junior claim handlers with an understanding of basic insurance terminology.
This course will also focus on best practices and concepts that can be integrated within corporate practices
and procedures.
The leaders of this course are Becky Cameron, CIP, S.S.W., Claims Consultant, Cameron &
Associates Insurance Consultants Limited, and James Cameron, FCIP, CRM, President, Cameron & Associates
Insurance Consultants Limited.
