June 3, 2001 – Phoenix-Eastern Insurance Brokers Inc., an experienced
Canadian insurance brokerage firm, has introduced a new web-based insurance program
(including instant on-line quotes) to provide Canadian Not-for-Profit Associations and
Charities with a comprehensive insurance package that can reduce annual insurance costs by more than 25%.
The program called CAIP (Comprehensive Associations Insurance Program) can be accessed at
“www.caipinsurance.com“.
The program can be purchased directly or through local insurance brokers across Canada.
More $ for Non-Profit Association and Charity Activities
Richard Battagello, Managing Partner of CAIP, said “there are over 175,000 Charities
and Not-for-Profit associations operating in Canada today. By reducing insurance costs by
25% a year, associations and charities would be able to employ an additional $65 million
for programming each year.”
New innovation reduces costs Mr. Battagello said that Phoenix-Eastern was able to
accomplish both improved insurance coverages and lower costs by:
-
minimizing sales and administration costs through the use of web technology; and
-
combining multiple insurance policies into one comprehensive
program that includes Directors and Officers, Errors & Omissions and General
Liability, Crime, Boiler & Machinery, and all-risk Property and Contents insurance.
Lower costs, improved protection Mr. Battagello said that
his personal involvement as a volunteer Board Member made him better appreciate the
distinctive insurance needs of non-profit associations and charities.
“The needs and challenges of non-profit associations and charities have changed
dramatically over the past 25 years” Battagello said. “We saw an opportunity to
use the web to upgrade association and charity’s insurance coverage and keep costs
down” he continued.
Better liability protection
“With affordable liability insurance coverage, Not-for-Profits and Charities will be
better able to attract senior, experienced people to effectively oversee their affairs.
Today, directors and officers are responsible for the ethical and financial well-being of
associations and charities” he said, “should their organization be negligent or
hit financial problems, directors and officers can be held personally liable.”
The life-blood of every community
“First and foremost, Phoenix-Eastern is a business” Mr. Battagello said.
“But it’s very satisfying to know that we can provide the kind of insurance
protection Charities and Not-for-Profit Associations need, at a reduced cost. Charities
and Not-for-Profit Associations are the life-blood of every community across Canada and I
believe it’s critical that they remain vital and viable, as we enter the 21st century.”
