Technology Differentiated Claims Handling

April 2, 2003

Claims represent the value point of insurance. With the decline in investment income reducing top line revenue, an increasing number of insurers are focusing on improvement in claims costs and loss adjustment expenses to improve bottom line results. An over-arching concern is the present and potential impact of long-term liabilities - in automobile and general liability exposures. As a result, the work of claims professionals has never been more critical, more demanding, and more dependent on technology.

Technology and access to information has been a mixed blessing for claims professionals in this light. On the one hand, there are numerous technologies available to assist practitioners. However, technology has also enabled the increase in consumer expectations for speed and ease of access.

Day-to-day demands to adjust and settle claims allow insurance professionals little time to reflect on options for supporting technology and receive direct information on the value of different approaches. This half day seminar will provide focused information from both practitioners and suppliers on such areas as:

  • Impacts of technology to improve timeliness and accuracy of first reports of claims;

  • Technology supported options for workload balancing, and empowerment of a 'once-and-done' approach to claims handling;

  • Opportunities for new technologies to provide better access information for front line workers;

  • New approaches for improved data gathering to support best of breed adjustment and settlement practices;

  • How the broker can best add value in claims management; and

  • Enabling greater flexibility of management reporting, going beyond monthly frequency and severity reports.

Claims professionals know that time is the most precious commodity. This seminar will provide the best return on time investment by concentrating on real-life, practical solutions to today's issues. Specific topics include:

  • Use of mobile technology for field personnel;

  • Web based reporting of claims and claims information;

  • First report and information dissemination options;

  • New management reporting tools;

  • Update on Auto Insurance Standard Invoice Technology; and

  • Document management and workflow.

Become informed, and network with others who are concentrating on best of class solutions to today's issues in claims handling and management at "Technology Differentiated Claims Handling" on April 2, 2003
