Insurance-Canada.ca Seminar Brokers: Driving Technology to Work Tuesday, August 13, 2002 Hosted by Insurance Canada
the premier Internet reference site for insurance in Canada
In spite of best efforts by direct writers and direct response insurers, broker companies still have dominant market share in the property/casualty insurance business in Canada. Brokers have demonstrated the capability of using technology to out-market and out-support competitors in a soft market. Now with a firming market, and withdrawal/consolidation of carriers, brokers are facing new challenges to their leadership role in the placement and maintenance of business. Higher prices and reduced availability mean higher commissions, but also mean more shopping activity by customers, and the requirement to respond to unanticipated market changes. The leading players are viewing technology strategies with an even keener eye than before to maintain and expand market share, while reducing internal costs to improve bottom line profitability. The CSIO Portal is coming to reality, albeit with a different roll-out plan, while carriers and vendors are offering an array of proprietary solutions. Never has technology offered such promise, and such choice. Risks of not doing anything have never been higher. Join us on August 13 and learn from experienced brokers, carriers, and suppliers about the technologies and strategies that work in this shifting market. Speakers will examine the insurance world from a ‘broker centric’ view, and illustrate specific tactics to keep brokers front and centre with the clients. In addition to a full agenda of insightful presentations, there will be ample opportunities to talk informally with presenters and other attendees to get information which you will use the next day. Continuing Education Credits for Life and P&C Insurance Topics and Speakers By attending this session, you will learn more about the impact that the Internet, technology and other changes are having on Life Insurance sales processing, from product information distribution through application underwriting and issue, and compensation.
