Insurance-Canada.ca Seminar Technology Supporting the Property Casualty Broker-Company Link Thursday, April 11, 2002 Hosted by Insurance Canada
the premier Internet reference site for insurance in Canada
In 1996, the Internet offered promised to drive a revolution in Insurance Distribution. Many feared (or sought) broker 'dis-intermediation'; others predicted the end of standard broker-company interface; insurers began experimenting with Internet enabled risk selection; and many questioned the ability of a still young medium to handle volumes of traffic in a secure fashion. In 2002, trade journals and consultants are asking: "Is the long promised Internet driven Insurance Distribution Revolution well under-way, only just beginning, or already yesterday's news?" Insurance Canada's Broker Distribution Seminar on April 11, 2002 will give attendees the current views of business practitioners who have experienced the impact of the Internet on Distribution, and have plans in place for future, mature exploitation of the medium. The CSIO Portal is now coming close to its first production release, and some insurers are placing bets on its functionality. Other insurers have developed robust, secure Internet enabled facilities for proprietary connections. Some are doing both. Brokers are weighing options with carrier connectivity and offering e-services to clients. And leading suppliers are web-enabling existing products, and creating new services to utilize the rapidly advancing array of Internet services. Will these all come together to promote efficiency, or create a new landscape of disconnected technologies and processes? Join us on April 11th to hear the opinions of experts from each sector, and get the information you need to make decisions on your direction for the future. Keeping with the format that attendees at recent seminars have praised, this seminar will feature a number of speakers. Each will bring their perspective in brief presentations on how technology is supporting the broker-company link in the supply-distribution chain today, and what they see coming next. In each case the speaker will also address the potential impact on the channel and its competitiveness. Continuing Education Credits for Life and P&C Insurance Topics and Speakers By attending this session, you will learn more about the impact that the Internet, technology and other changes are having on Property and Casualty Broker Distribution.
