Insurance-Canada.ca Seminar Claiming Benefit from Technology and the Internet Thursday, February 14, 2002 Hosted by Insurance Canada
the premier Internet reference site for insurance in Canada
~ ~ For a post-conference summary ~ ~ How is claims processing changing? What tools are available to link you to others who are implementing these changes? Can you derive benefit from these new tools and solutions. Five years ago the Internet dream consisted of insurance sales to the prospect!! Now everyone realizes that the Internet is but a set of technologies which enable vastly different communications - but with big potential in all aspects of insurance. A recent Swiss Re Sigma study indicates that for US personal lines, fully 12% of the costs buried in the combined P&C functions (claims payouts, claims expenses, administration and distribution) will be removed by the migration to e-business. What will you have to do differently to compete as this conversion to e-business continues, and what can you do today? For claims, the communications path primarily runs from consumer to insurer. With the diverse nature of claims, the types of service providers are many, and the number of providers of each type numerous. A claim's "process" may include only a couple of parties for simple claims, and myriads of parties for larger more complex ones. Many organizations are providing tools and solutions to "connect" each communicating pair in the supply chain between consumer, through trusted-advisor intermediary and insurer claim manager, to the ultimate claim service provider(s). Now the multi-party collaborative process is being addressed with Claims Hubs and other techniques to tackle the inefficiencies of many-party communications and processing. This e-claims seminar will address the complete chain - or web - with special focus on the claim department and services provider links and teamwork. The initial link-by-link integration will be leveraged into multiple link connections, eventually resulting in seamless end-to-end transactions which can be intercepted at any service point for customer service and exceptions. As an insurer or service provider, or broker, you will find this session invaluable in understanding the current situation as the approaches evolve from idea and concept to benefit-providing reality and determining where your planning should take you in the future. After a late start, the insurance industry is moving in a hurry to capture the background benefits of the internet and related technologies, combined with best practices. The Business-to-Business (B2B) "supply chain analogy" opportunities are now being developed and implemented. The target is enhanced effectiveness and efficiency of end-to-end insurance customer service. Insurance Canada's seminar "Claiming Benefit from Technology and the Internet" will help you better understand and appreciate the opportunities the Internet presents for improved claims process, and meeting your corporate objectives. This half-day session will build from Insurance Canada's experience with the Internet through a five-year Web site and the strength and knowledge of many who are providing tools and services to the industry. Continuing Education Credits for Life and P&C Insurance Topics and Speakers By attending this session, you will learn more about the impact that the Internet, technology and other changes are having on Claims.
