Strategy Meets Action conducted a survey on usage-based insurance (UBI) in 4Q12, with 110 insurance professionals from North America participating. In a new report, it was noted by SMA guest author Richard Welch that “2012 was a breakthrough year for UBI as Progressive brought it to the mass market in the US. 2013 is likely to be characterized by a rapid expansion of the number of companies offering UBI options to their customers.”

IBC hails Ontario Government commitment to implement Anti-Fraud Task Force recommendations
Insurance Bureau of Canada welcomed today's commitment from the Ontario government to continue implementing the recommendations of the Auto Insurance Anti-Fraud Task Force. IBC and its members pledged to work with the government on the commitment, made in today's Speech from the Throne at Queen's Park, saying the Task Force's ideas will help protect the province's nine million drivers and all taxpayers from fraud, and help to reduce insurance rates across Ontario.
Great-West Lifeco acquires Irish Life Group
Great-West Lifeco Inc. today announced that it has reached an agreement with the Government of Ireland to acquire, through its subsidiary Canada Life Limited, all of the shares of Irish Life Group Limited for C$1.75 billion (€1.3 billion).
