LIMRA Study Reveals Social Media Use Climbs More than 30 Percent By Life Insurers in 2011.
WINDSOR, Conn., Jan. 31, 2012 - Nearly 8 in 10 insurance companies currently engage in social media; another 18 percent plan to use social media within the next 12 months, according to a recent LIMRA study. LIMRA's study, Getting Social: Using Social Media to Support Business Strategies, found companies are using social media primarily to expand brand awareness. IBC - Multi-billion dollar disasters on the rise.
SAINT JOHN, NB, Feb. 22, 2012 - Don Forgeron, President & CEO of Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), was in Saint John today to talk about an issue that he believes has become everyone's problem: severe weather, with an emphasis on water. In an address to the Saint John Board of Trade, Mr. Forgeron said that water and the problems it creates belong to all of us. It's everyone's issue.
Manitoba Public Insurance and police react: Manitobans admit to using hand held cell phones when driving.
Manitoba drivers are not putting down their handheld devices, according to a recent Manitoba Public Insurance survey. In efforts to reduce distracted-driving collisions, Manitoba Public Insurance announced today it is providing $120,000 in funding to police agencies - Winnipeg Police Service, RCMP and Brandon Police Service - to conduct targeted, dedicated enforcement towards distracted drivers during the month of February.
ICBC: New study reminds us that buckling up helps prevent lives from needlessly being lost.
February 17, 2012 - This week's study from B.C. Coroner's Service serves as a strong reminder to us all about the importance of wearing a seatbelt. On average, 1,200 injuries and 90 fatalities are observed by police every year in B.C. where a driver or passenger was not properly restrained. This represents 30 per cent of all drivers and passengers killed on B.C. roads every year.*

Hectic times as we scurry to get things ready for our conference this coming Monday. There seems to be no end of little things - well some big things too - that need attention. Anyone who has organized an event I am sure well understands. Nonetheless, I did find a little time to visit the furniture store to buy a new day bed, and to help my son hang a large mirror in his apartment. But, I needed the break!
