Insurance Marketing Information from Canada CAIP to donate 2% of 2001 CAIP premiums to encourage volunteerism United Nations International Year of Volunteers June 5, 2001 CAIP (Comprehensive Associations Insurance Program) today announced that, in recognition of the United Nations International Year of Volunteers, it will donate 2% of 2001 CAIP premiums to help encourage volunteerism in Canada. The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2001 as the "International Year of Volunteers." The year long celebration is dedicated to acknowledging the importance of, and fostering the growth of, volunteerism around the world. More $ for Charity and Non-Profit Association Activities The Canadian Association Insurance Program (CAIP) has introduced a new web-based insurance program (including instant, on-line quotations) to provide Canadian Charities and Not-for-Profit Associations with a quality-packed, comprehensive insurance program that can reduce annual insurance costs by more than 25%. Richard Battagello said "there are over 175,000 Charities and Not-for-Profit Associations operating in Canada today. By reducing their annual insurance costs by even 25%, they would retain an additional $65 million for program activities each year." Finding the time to volunteer "The biggest barrier to people volunteering is a lack of time. We want to help organizations find ways to attract and employ volunteers in ways that hopefully, will complement the other activities in their lives. We want our contribution, in recognition of the International Year of Volunteers, to have a direct impact on the effective use of volunteers across the country" Battagello continued. Lifeblood of communities "My personal involvement as a volunteer made me realize that my own industry needed to better address the distinctive insurance needs of the non-profit sector. Charities and Not-for-Profit Associations are the life-blood of every community across Canada" said Richard Battagello, CAIP's Managing Partner, "and I believe it's critical that they remain vital and viable as we enter the 21st century."
