Directory of Reporting Services and Products for Claims Accident Support Services International Ltd. Open Kingston Collision Reporting Centre in Partnership with the Kingston Police Kingston, March 29, 2010 - The Kingston Police and Accident Support Services International Ltd. (ASSI), facilitators of Collision Reporting to the Insurance Industry, are pleased to announce the opening of the Kingston Collision Reporting Centre (CRC) on Monday, March 29, located in the new Police Station at 705 Division Street. The CRC will be open Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM. The Kingston Collision Reporting Centre will provide enhanced value to the public in the investigation of vehicle collisions. Rather than Police attending the scene of their accident, citizens will exchange information, and will have up to 24 hours to report property damage collisions, regardless of the damage amount, towed or drivable, at the Collision Reporting Centre. The Centre will allow efficient use of police resources and time with officers freed up to attend proactively to higher priority needs in the community. Police will continue to attend collisions involving injury or death, alcohol, criminal activity, vehicles transporting dangerous goods or municipal vehicles. Accident Support Services is currently under contract with the Barrie, London, Peterborough, North Bay, Owen Sound, Brantford, Belleville, Hamilton, Durham Region, Cornwall, Timmins, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay and Toronto Police Services, as well as with the Ontario Provincial Police. In addition, twelve other Police Services utilize ASSI’s Collision Reporting & Occurrence Management System (CROMS) as their electronic collision database. The goal of ASSI is to facilitate an active partnership between the police and insurers in post accident care by providing knowledgeable advice and assistance to accident victims with empathy, integrity and availability. This results in increased convenience for the public as well as greater road safety. Supporting insurers fund the program; therefore, there is no cost to the police or the public for these additional services. Chief Steve Tanner is looking forward to reaping the benefits of the program in his community. “We are very pleased to be bringing this service to Kingston. It has been very effective and popular in numerous municipalities throughout Ontario and will enable our officers to spend more time on targeted and proactive enforcement, which should in turn help to reduce the incidence of collisions. We are also looking forward to using the CROMS database as an excellent resource for addressing problem areas and times.” For more information on Accident Support Services International Ltd. please visit www.accsupport.com.
